With her signature blue hair and inimitable fashion flair, meet our Christmas campaign star Coco Fennell

 

Inspired by vintage Americana and iconic labels like Ossie Clark and Biba, Coco Fennell is a celebrated British fashion designer celebrated for her fun, feminine, and retro-inspired designs.


Known for her ability to blend vintage influences with modern flair, Coco’s journey into fashion began with a deep passion for creating clothes that empower women and make them feel confident.

 

 

Coco launched her eponymous label, Coco Fennell, in 2011 at 22 whilst studying graphic design in London. The brand quickly gained attention for its playful yet elegant aesthetic, characterised by flattering silhouettes, bold prints, and timeless cuts. ‘I wanted to design clothes that were fun but above all flattering,’ she says.

Coco’s designs are beloved by style icons who embrace individuality including Rihanna, Kylie Minogue (she loves the retro jumpsuits), and Rita Ora. Coco’s pieces are accessible yet distinctive, catering to women who want to stand out in both everyday wear and special occasions. This makes her a perfect match for Lulu!

 

 

Some of Coco’s pieces have also appeared in Oscar-winning sister Emerald’s movies. Fans of Promising Young Woman will see vengeful protagonist Cassie (played by Carey Mulligan) dressed in one of Coco’s rose-printed and waist-cinching dresses (which subsequently sold out after the film’s release).


In our Q&A, Coco shares insights into her creative process, the inspiration behind her collections, and – of course – how she styles Christmas, chez Coco.  


Q: Can you describe the style of your fashion label?

A: My label is fun and flattering vintage inspired dresses and jumpsuits. I love to mix prints and embroidery.

A: My personal style is more is more. I love big costume jewellery, Lulu bags and my own dresses and the occasional rhinestone suit!





Q: What does your dream Christmas day look like?

A: At home with my family in Berkshire. Lots of food, telly, walks and chatting over tea and mince pies.


Q: How do you like to decorate?

A: My mum does fabulous decorating, fairy lights all over the place and we all do the tree.


Q: What are your favourite traditions?

A: Decorating the tree listening to Phil Spector's Christmas album which has fab 60’s songs by Darlene Love and The Ronettes.





Q: What’s on your gift wishlist this year?

A: Hades jumpers and I love a travel voucher. My boyfriend got me a Lulu bag last christmas which I loved.


Q: And what do you like to gift your friends?

A: I usually just give them a dress from my label or a lovely scented candle or flowers.


Q: Do you go casual or dressed up on the big day?

A: I usually dress up in something I’ve been given. Which usually ends up being a deranged combination of things.

Q: When it comes to bags, what is your everyday go-to?

A: Lulu bibi bag i have about 5 of them!


Q: What is your ultimate evening bag when you want to make a statement?

A: I usually just wear the same bag til its run out of steam! I wish i was chic enough to have a tiny bag but I like to have as many things with me as possible at all times.


Q: What do you love about Lulu bags?

A: They are so much fun and so beautifully made.


Q: What do you have your eye on at Lulu?

A: The telephone box bag or the house with wisteria or the lips!
